Recreation Baseball & Softball

The Waushara County league supports the development of youth baseball and softball in and around Waushara County. OYBSA participants in the Waushara County league so that Omro teams can play against similarly sized organizations as well as host games in Omro.

Ages

The league is appropriate for participants from 1st through 9th Grade.

When

Games begin around the week of May 19th and run through the beginning of July. Practices will begin prior to games, generally in mid-April. There may be, however, opportunities prior to April.

Where

Practices are generally held at fields in the city of Omro (OES, HB Patch, or the High School).

Games are played here in Omro as well as in other cities that participate in the Waushara County League. Some games do have a travel time of approximately one hour (one way).

Practices

Practices are determined by the coach(es) of each team. Generally, participants should anticipate two practices a week before games begin and one practice a week once games begin.

Games

Teams will play approximately two games a week for approximately 6 weeks. The days of the week vary depending upon the age group of the participant.

Jerseys

Jerseys are provided. Sizes and name are provided at registration. Numbers are randomly determined.

Baseball participants should have a grey pair of baseball pants and maroon pair of socks (for games).


Softball participants should have a black pair of baseball pants and maroon pair of socks (for games).

Extra Costs

There is not an additional cost to be a part of this league.

Volunteer Credits

Each participant's family is responsible for 4 volunteer credits/hours. These credits can be achieved through being a registered coach, working games as field umpires (when applicable), working the concession stand, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have a family vacation planned and will miss a week of practice. Will this impact my child's playing time?

  • This type of event should not have an impact on playing time.

Can my child work the concession stand for me?

  • An adult (18 or over) has to be present in the concession stand at all times. If one adult is present, it is fine if your family's volunteer is 16 or over. Anyone under 16 will not be considered a volunteer applicable to your credits.

The Waushara County league is a recreational Baseball and Softball league where players should have close to equal playing time. The objective of the league, for OYBSA participants, is to support the development of fundamentals through positive coaching during practices and games.
